On War, the Constitution, and the Media

Article I Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States says this regarding war, “The Congress shall have Power. . .to declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; to raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years.

Our nation has a history of war with the 20th century being the focal point of bloodshed caused by the government of this country.  Interestingly enough, only two of the wars of the 20th century were constitutionally declared and are questionable from a just war standpoint at that.  From Wilson tricking us into World War I, FDR deceiving us and allowing Pearl Harbor to take place, the absurd war against communism that destroyed Korea and Vietnam, foreign aid given to fight communism, turmoil in the middle east and Afghanistan under the noses of Americans, stirring up bees nests in the Middle East and provoking terrorists to attack on 9/11, making up a link to Iraq and taking it over and then calling it a promotion of democracy- all of our wars have further isolated the United States in the world.

Ron Paul said this about our controversial foreign policy during the 2008 election, “Let me see if I get this right.  We need to borrow $10 billion dollars from China and then we give it to Musharraf, who is a military dictator who overthrew an elected government. Then we go to war; we lose all these lives, promoting democracy in Iraq. What is going on here?”  But why are the terrorists attacking us?  Doesn’t that give us just cause for war?  What about 9/11?

Let us talk motive regarding the terrorists now.  Every one of the terrorists who have attacked us say that they are here because of what we are doing overseasThey are here because we are there. None of it is about attacking a Christian nation, or because we live free, or to promote a larger pro-Islam agenda, etc. as the Bush administration first lead us to believe.  It is absurd that the media continues to miss this point of motive and continues to broadcast the garbage propaganda the government provides them.  Its like foxnews and cnn and all of the other lowercase brand names of media feed off of the White House officials and present this make believe picture of world events taken out of context.  What is even worse is smart people I know are fooled by it!

We continue to wage wars overseas because we think that if we don’t the terrorists will come here.  That is simply not true as the president of the Future of Freedom Foundation puts it so well in his article titled Sanctions: The Cruel and Brutal War against the Iraqi People, “immediately after the September 11 terrorist attacks, President Bush and other U.S. officials announced that the attacks had been motivated by hatred for America’s “freedom and values.” Nothing could have been further from the truth, and U.S. officials knew it. For 12 years, they had been waging a cruel and brutal, silent and undeclared war against the Iraqi people — a war which not only had plunged the Iraqi populace into economic privation and desperation but had also taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of their children. U.S. officials knew full well that it was just a matter of time before someone struck back, which is why they continually warned about the threat of terrorist attacks during the late 1990s.”

The Progressive puts it like this in their article The Secret Behind the Sanctions: How the U.S. Intentionally Destroyed Iraq’s Water Supply, “contrary to the Geneva Convention, the U.S. government intentionally used sanctions against Iraq to degrade the country’s water supply after the Gulf War. The United States knew the cost that civilian Iraqis, mostly children, would pay, and it went ahead anyway.”

Media has lost all of its critical analysis.  Proof of this lies in the fact that it all starts with music.  The rest is pictures and emotionally charged headlines.  Why else do you think people like the man who launched that balloon with his child supposedly in it made the “news?”  That isn’t news!  What have we come to?  And why do we keep watching this crap broadcasted daily?  Well, because it is entertaining. This is the only reasonable answer.  I mean honestly, do we really need to spend precious moments learning that Oregon got a lot of snow?   It is your job to start reading from independent sources that don’t have twisted agendas or are motivated by money. Fox News- fair and balanced?  Yeah right.  What a great sell though.  Media can tell you anything they want and put the right theme music to get the desired response from you.

Considering the media’s influence on decision making regarding war and the constitution why else do we allow our executive branch to continue to wage unjust, unconstitutional wars?  We allow them to fool us into believing we are doing the right thing with the media being a major problem here in pushing a desired emotional response for a make believe war on terrorism.  Jacob Hoernberger states that big government needed another reason to justify itself.  Since communism is dead it now needs a war on terrorism to justify the laws etcetera that are supposedly for our protection.  More security and less freedom is exactly what we need to head on down the road of tyranny.  Ben Franklin said “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”  The Patriot Act was not for our safety by any means, but for government expansion.

Article II Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States requires that the President before entering office takes this oath, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Bush and Obama have both trampled on the constitution and obviously not been held accountable to the oath they took.  We have a constitutional representative republic form of government that has become a bloated attempt at majority rule– something the founders did not ever intend.  Further, the military industrial complex we’ve got going on pushes our presidents into absurd wars.  Take the latest problem with Iran that seems to be cropping up.  Why is it that we must always choose war?  Is Obama being pushed into this war or is it on his own choosing?  No action can be taken without the consent of congress we must remember!  This is fundamental to the problems we have.  There must be a declaration of war by congress.

Considering the issues that are pointed out above how can a Christian support a candidate that is pro-war?  Pro-war isn’t even biblical.  Peroutka puts it like this as he points the ever changing justifications given for our wars, “President Bush’s war against Iraq because, among other reasons, it is un-Biblical (not truly a war of self-defense), un-Constitutional (no declaration of war) and a huge waste of Federal tax dollars.”  I have heard friends ask rhetorically about how it is possible that Christians could vote for Obama- presumably because of the abortion issue.  My answer has always been to counter with “how in the world can you say that and then support a candidate that will use force overseas in unjust, unbiblical, and unconstitutional ways?”  The next question I present is “do you really think your ‘republican’ candidate will really put an end to abortion?”  Of course they won’t!  If they did there would be no platform for them next year.  In other words, if the problem is fixed they lose power.  Big government candidates will never give up that power.

Consider also the globalist agenda that has imprisoned Michael G New.  In the same way that the President has shirked his oath American soldiers are being forced to ignore the oath that they take, “I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”  The American soldier is being called to serve foreign globalist flags such as NATO and the United Nations not the United States of America which they swore an oath to.
